Role Summary

The Lead Manager of Information Systems is tasked with overseeing and directing the daily functions of the IT department. This includes managing workflows, setting priorities, and developing departmental standards and goals to meet HMECU's technological requirements. The role encompasses not only the oversight of the technology infrastructure but also the management of systems that support business operations, including data management, business processes, and application integration. The Lead Manager collaborates closely with various departments to ensure that information systems enhance operational processes and deliver valuable insights, bridging the gap between technology, personnel, and procedures while managing both hardware and software. Additionally, they will be responsible for safeguarding financial data and systems while establishing both immediate and long-term technology objectives, plans, and initiatives. The Lead Manager will ensure effective project management from inception to implementation and will be a key stakeholder in complex initiatives and project teams.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of relevant IT experience, with at least 3 years in a management role preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Advanced Degree preferred) in information technology or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in demonstrating innovation, creativity, and initiative in solving technology-related business challenges.
  • Strong ability to present findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and effectively.
  • SQL proficiency is an asset, along with any additional relevant certifications.
  • Must be bondable.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between business units and IT to deliver solutions that meet organizational needs, including training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with management to define objectives, standards, and strategies for IT process updates and changes.
  • Assess the technology usage and needs of the credit union to recommend suitable technology solutions that enhance business processes.
  • Lead the implementation of IT projects across the organization to enhance operations and compliance objectives, including training initiatives.
  • Manage the delivery of technical support services and implement data security and control measures.
  • Work closely with all internal teams to understand their needs, requirements, and critical issues requiring IT support.
  • Provide recommendations for system enhancements and integrations to better serve HMECU.
  • Develop, implement, communicate, maintain, and ensure compliance with HMECU's information technology policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain an effective Information Technology Disaster Recovery and Incident Response plan, including conducting tests and coordinating responses to incidents.
  • Stay informed about the latest threats and trends, proactively implementing measures to enhance our security posture as the designated Information Security Officer.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus solutions, and encryption tools.
  • Manage the credit union's systems related to critical operations, including those reliant on third parties, from mapping systems and processes to testing and maintenance.
  • Oversee the technology risk framework, including ongoing reporting and tracking of IT risks and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations related to Information Technology and Systems.
  • Lead the Change Management Committee concerning Information Technology.
  • Oversee procurement, implementation, and inventory management related to Information Technology.
  • Manage user access across various systems.
  • Supervise the management of HMECU's ATM technology.
  • Oversee the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation while supporting organizational technology objectives.
