Job Title: Animal Attendant

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Animal Attendant to join our team at the Estevan Humane Society Inc. This is a permanent, part-time position with a variety of shifts available.

Job Summary:

The Animal Attendant will be responsible for providing daily care and attention to the animals in our shelter. This includes bathing and shampooing animals, documenting animal behavior, preparing food and feeding animals, cleaning and disinfecting cages and enclosures, and assisting with inoculation and treatment of animals.

Responsibilities:
  • Bathe and shampoo animals to maintain their cleanliness and hygiene
  • Document animal behavior to ensure their well-being and identify any potential health issues
  • Prepare and serve food and water to animals, ensuring their nutritional needs are met
  • Clean and disinfect cages, pens, aquariums, kennels, runs, stalls, and enclosures to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Assist with inoculation and treatment of animals, under the supervision of a veterinarian or experienced animal care professional
  • Perform other duties as required to maintain the health and well-being of the animals in our care
Requirements:
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but a willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment is essential
  • Previous experience in animal care is an asset, but not required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
Work Environment:

The Animal Attendant will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a variety of animals, including dogs and cats. The successful candidate will be able to work in a team environment and provide excellent care and attention to the animals in our shelter.
