Position Overview:
The Manager, Planning Analytics plays a pivotal role in the development and management of advanced business intelligence solutions that enhance the planning and budgeting functions within the University of Toronto. Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Planning & Budget Administration, this position requires a deep understanding of the institution's financial, budgetary, and enrollment planning processes, translating these into actionable technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will:
- Oversee the creation and management of the University's official government enrollment count files.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the Planning & Budget Office and the CIO portfolio, ensuring seamless integration of budgetary and enrollment systems within the overall IT strategy.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on business intelligence and reporting solutions, providing strategic advice to senior management on budget and planning data.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across various academic and administrative divisions, identifying their business needs and proposing effective technical solutions.
- Ensure the security, accessibility, and functionality of the underlying technology and data systems.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Computer Science, or a related field, along with a Project Management or Professional Accounting designation (e.g., PMP, CMA, CGA, CA), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a complex higher education setting, demonstrating progressively responsible roles.
- In-depth knowledge of university policies, budgetary and financial procedures, and enrollment management.
- Proven experience in collaborating with senior administrators and providing expert advice.
- Experience managing large-scale IT projects or leading change management initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability in team building, training, and staff management.
- Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Thorough understanding of relevant university policies, particularly regarding financial and enrollment matters.
- Aptitude for working effectively in high-pressure and conflict situations.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Solid grasp of systems development methodologies and frameworks for building information systems.
- Familiarity with business intelligence structures, including relational and dimensional modeling.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Understanding of AMS systems, specifically FIS and HRIS.
- Familiarity with student systems such as ROSI.
- Experience in dashboard development using Tableau.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Commitment to promoting diversity and equity within the workplace.
