About You / What We Are Looking For
This dynamic and fulfilling position encompasses technical, administrative, and fieldwork associated with the inspection, planning, and management of municipal stormwater systems, sanitary sewer systems, water systems, pavement management, traffic operations assets, and engineering construction projects. You will assess infrastructure conditions and formulate long-term sustainable utility management strategies, alongside researching, developing, scheduling, and overseeing relevant projects, including construction. Additionally, you will assist in compiling recommendations on capital projects and other technical issues while exercising significant independent judgment and action concerning engineering adequacy and departmental protocols. Your ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders will be essential as you provide technical information, advice, and interpretation of engineering standards.
Your success in this role will hinge on your extensive knowledge of municipal stormwater, sanitary sewer, and water systems, as well as pavement management techniques and technologies. You should also be well-versed in design and engineering standards related to all facets of municipal infrastructure servicing, as well as the methods, practices, materials, and equipment utilized in the construction and installation of municipal utilities, including asset management.
Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have completed a diploma in a relevant discipline (such as Civil or Structural Engineering) from a recognized institute of technology, complemented by substantial related municipal engineering experience. Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia is mandatory. A valid BC Driver's License is also required for this position.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position offers an hourly wage range of $52.20. The pay rate is determined by various factors, including qualifications, knowledge, experience, and skills. You will have the opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding and diverse team dedicated to supporting the local community, along with engaging in various learning and development opportunities. Additionally, there is a chance to participate in an earned day off/flex day program. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, hybrid work options available. The City provides an attractive vacation and extended benefits package, including the option to contribute to the Municipal Pension Plan.
