Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accounting Professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing working papers, financial statements, and corporate and personal income tax returns. They will also be involved in general bookkeeping and data entry, meeting deadlines as assigned by the partner or senior staff accountant, and handling and filing confidential information as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Initial preparation of working papers, financial statements, corporate and personal income tax returns, GST returns, payroll for owner-managed businesses, T4s, T5s
  • General bookkeeping and data entry
  • Meeting deadlines as assigned by the partner or senior staff accountant
  • Handling and filing confidential information as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • The ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • The ability to rapidly absorb and utilize information in a fast-paced work environment
  • A thorough understanding of accounting and the accounting industry
  • Basic experience in or understanding of various software programs, including Sage 50, QuickBooks, CaseWare and Microsoft Office a definite asset
  • Strong typing and computer skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Positive attitude
  • Very reliable
