Overview

The Railway Track Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of rail construction and maintenance projects. This position requires a commitment to adhering to all safety regulations and operational policies while effectively managing a team of workers to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a safe working environment by embracing our Safe Start culture and following industry and company safety protocols.
  • Analyze project contracts and documentation to ensure compliance with construction standards.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to strategize work activities and develop comprehensive safety action plans.
  • Oversee daily operations on assigned projects, ensuring the availability of necessary resources for timely project completion.
  • Monitor crew performance in alignment with company objectives, conducting regular meetings to discuss safety, production goals, and performance feedback.
  • Handle various administrative tasks, including production reporting, time tracking, and equipment logs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of experience in railway construction and maintenance, including hands-on work with track alterations and repairs.
  • Valid certifications in Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) and Track Inspection Guideline (TIG) are required; training will be provided for expired certifications.
  • Proven supervisory experience managing multiple crews effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering projects that meet safety and quality standards.
  • Valid class five driver's license or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of rail equipment and tools.
  • Proficient in computer operations, including time and equipment entry.
  • Physically fit and capable of meeting the demands of the role.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may be performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Office work is also required.
  • Exposure to loud environments and potential travel away from home.
  • Compliance with safety equipment regulations is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of rail safety regulations and the ability to address maintenance challenges effectively.
