The Early Childhood Education Assistant collaborates with the Lead Teacher(s) to facilitate and enhance an Early Learning and Development Program for children aged 0-12 years in a group environment, adhering to the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), local regulations, and the operational policies of Family Day Care Services.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the application of the High/Scope educational framework and The Hanen Learning Language and Loving It Program Contribute to the development of a program plan that aligns with children's interests and accommodates diverse individual and cultural backgrounds Engage in both short-term and long-term planning and assessment activities Support the observation and evaluation of children's development and behavior to ensure the program meets the needs of individuals and groups Aid in the creation of Individual Program Plans for children with special requirements Exhibit empathy and provide support to families Maintain respectful communication with children, parents, colleagues, and volunteers Provide comfort and encouragement to children facing challenges, helping them navigate their emotions Ensure that play and activity areas are well-equipped and properly maintained Adhere to Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety standards Guide children in developing independent skills in eating, dressing, and toileting Perform additional duties as necessaryQualifications and Experience:
Prior experience working with children in a childcare or educational environment Familiarity with best practices in early childhood education and care Strong skills in leadership, communication, organization, assessment, teamwork, confidentiality, commitment, initiative, and creativity Understanding of diversity and social inclusion principles Medical clearance required, including a two-stage TB test Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR, level C Availability to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm-
