About the Role

The Ambulance Operator/Attendant will be responsible for providing skilled work in the operation of ambulances, transporting patients while exercising care and skill in driving. The successful incumbent will provide assistance to the paramedicine staff in patient care, such as proper lifting of patients and other related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ambulances in a safe and efficient manner, transporting patients to medical facilities.
  • Provide assistance to paramedicine staff in patient care, including lifting and moving patients and equipment.
  • Participate in emergency medical responses, providing care and support to patients in need.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care and transportation.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an Emergency Medical Responder course (10-day course).
  • Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Paramedic Registrar as an Emergency Medical Responder.
  • Current certification with the Newfoundland and Labrador Office of the Provincial Medical Director as an Emergency Medical Responder.
  • Possession of a valid Class 4 Driver's License as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • An acceptable Driver's Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration.
  • BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as required.
