Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Geriatric Psychiatry

Job Summary:

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join the Geriatric Psychiatry Services in the Geriatric Rehabilitation Program at Toronto Rehab. The successful candidate will work in the Virtual Behavioural Medicine Program, utilizing their expertise to formulate clinical decisions and manage behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and advanced level of clinical competence to care for complex patients.
  • Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary mental health team.
  • Play a leadership role and perform quality improvement and administrative responsibilities.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development, research activities, and education and professional development programs.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario registration in the Extended Class.
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult certificate or Primary Care certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in geriatric care with experience in mental health.
  • Expertise and/or certification in management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
  • Confidence in the care of medically complex older adults with multiple co-morbidities.
  • Experience in nursing research, program planning, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution.
  • Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO): related professional interest group or association preferred.
