Role Overview

Sales and Profitability

  • The Merchandising Specialist will curate the presentation of garments on the Sales Floor and in Windows in alignment with the Commercial Handbook. Collaborating with the Department Manager, the Specialist will identify additional commercial prospects within the store, adhering to H&M brand guidelines. This role will implement floor transitions based on these collaborative insights.

Fashion Acumen

  • Stay informed about current fashion trends.
  • Inspire and educate the store team on seasonal trend insights, upcoming campaigns, and brand standards.

Direct Customer Engagement

  • Ensure customer service expectations are met according to H&M standards.
  • Assist the store in delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Indirect Customer Engagement

  • Uphold the H&M Visual Identity by implementing the Commercial Handbook and ensuring well-styled mannequins in windows and in-store.
  • Create a cohesive narrative from windows to the A-area with wearable buying suggestions.
  • Guarantee high-quality garment presentation daily in collaboration with the store team.
  • Maintain a clear customer flow through strategic fixture placement and navigation in accordance with H&M standards.
  • Launch and sustain all sales initiatives and activities punctually and in line with H&M standards.

Commercial Practices

  • In partnership with the Department Manager, monitor Store KPIs and initiate actions to achieve store objectives and budgets.
  • Adjust store planning based on needs and budget from the Commercial plan.
  • Complete and act on the Best Brand segment of the Customer Experience Tool to maximize commercial opportunities.

Visual Store Operations

  • Execute sample picking and floor transitions that create clear narratives and wearable buying suggestions.
  • Complete all sales floor and window morning routines daily before store opening.
  • Ensure the quality and condition of all incoming visual props and marketing materials with a focus on sustainability.
  • Maintain an organized and safe visual room.
  • Keep all visual materials current and share information with the team regarding seasonal updates.
  • Paint and maintain windows as necessary.

Team Collaboration

The Merchandising Specialist will support the Store team in enhancing both customer and employee experiences through coaching and development. Alongside the Store Management team, the Specialist will ensure compliance with all legal requirements and H&M policies.

Training and Development

  • Assess and enhance the visual and commercial skills of the store team through regular visual training for all colleagues to support garment presentation in accordance with the Commercial Handbook.
  • Maintain oversight, follow up, and provide feedback while executing floor transitions with the store team.
  • Identify potential future Merchandising Specialists for succession planning.

Communication and Compliance

  • Ensure that all communications in the windows and on the sales floor adhere to local regulations.

Safety and Security

  • Operate in accordance with H&M standards and local legislation regarding health, safety, and security protocols to ensure the safety of yourself, colleagues, and customers at all times.
  • Follow all procedures and routines concerning safety, security, and administrative processes across all areas of the store.

Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Capability to lift over 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, stretch, and engage in repetitive motions, as well as push, pull, and carry items (mannequins, clothing, totes, torsos, etc.) for short distances.
  • Proficient in climbing ladders and using step stools.
  • Must be able to operate hand and power tools (Iron, Steamer, etc.) and lift to set up displays.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings and weekends.
  • Potential travel to support other locations may be required.

Compensation: Starting salary at $42,000.
