Key Responsibilities
  • Child Development and Education
    • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
    • Encourage children to express creativity through various forms of art, music, and physical activity.
  • Child Care and Supervision
    • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.
    • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
    • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Support for Diverse Groups
    • Participate in government or community programs that support persons with disabilities, newcomers and refugees, youth, veterans, and Indigenous people.
    • Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for these groups.
Requirements
  • Education
    • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience
    • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
