RYGIEL Supports for Community Living (RSCL) is dedicated to providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Our services are designed to empower each person to actively engage in their chosen communities, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives characterized by a sense of belonging, meaningful relationships, and valued roles.

Position Overview

The Communications and Development Specialist is crucial in shaping and executing the marketing and communication strategy for RSCL. This role will enhance our online visibility and spearhead effective communication initiatives. Additionally, the position involves managing donor relations, maintaining systems, and generating reports.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Marketing and Communications (50%)
    • Implement the annual marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the organization's fundraising objectives and strategic goals.
    • Develop and execute communication campaigns, branding strategies, and enhance online presence, including social media and promotional materials.
    • Establish and evaluate key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of the annual plan.
    • Brand Management: Create marketing materials that adhere to branding guidelines and support strategic goals.
    • Oversee the marketing technology stack and be proficient in digital marketing platforms, design tools, and website management to optimize revenue and donations.
    • Produce engaging content, including copy, graphics, photography, and videos for various communication channels.
    • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events for RYGIEL and partner organizations.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure cohesive internal and external communications.
  2. Fund Development and Donor Relations (20%)
    • Collaborate with leadership to create and implement annual donor engagement strategies.
    • Lead the development of grant proposals, donor communications, and impact reports for individual and corporate supporters.
    • Monitor and report on the progress of donor engagement initiatives.
    • Support the recognition and appreciation of donors and participants in fundraising activities.
  3. Donor Management System Maintenance and Reporting (30%)
    • Organize and manage data to maintain accurate records in the donor management system and process offline donations.
    • Segment donor lists to enhance communication strategies and campaigns.
    • Prepare and submit reports, and manage data transfers between donation platforms and the donor management system.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Communication Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, including 1-2 years in major gift solicitation.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with the public and donors effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational, initiative, planning, and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in prospect research and grant writing.
  • Experience managing social media and messaging for a nonprofit or similar organization.
  • Familiarity with database management and electronic communication platforms.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology applications, such as CRM or DMS databases.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed.
  • Knowledge of the Hamilton region is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
