Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre to provide safe, patient-centered care to clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the prevention, identification, assessment, treatment, education, and rehabilitation of communication and/or swallowing disorders in children and adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and services within the scope of practice to inpatients, outpatients, and residents of long-term care.
  • Conduct video fluoroscopy studies in collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging department.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care rounds and demonstrate effective communication in the team.
  • Travel to alternate hospital sites and long-term care facilities as required.
  • Provide ongoing support for patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practice in relevant areas and commit to continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Health Science Degree, Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Minimum of six months experience working directly with clients in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • Previous experience with assessment and management of swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, self-directed and self-starter.
