About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Suppression Technician to join our team at Everguard. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, modifying, and servicing fire protection equipment and fire suppression systems at commercial, industrial, and institutional sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fire Protection Services: Install, inspect, maintain, modify, and service fire protection equipment and fire suppression systems at commercial, industrial, and institutional sites.
  • Blueprint and Diagram Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of fire protection equipment.
  • Customer Service and Support: Evaluate plans, customer requests, code, and non-conformance issues to determine specific solutions and recommendations for customers and management.
  • Material Preparation and Optimization: Prepare stock materials for daily execution of assigned work orders and optimize material utilization to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Complete daily reports of completed work orders and activities to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Leadership and Training: Ensure safe work practices are followed and demonstrate safety leadership in all aspects of the job. Mentor other team members, including trainees and field service labor, to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in 24/7 on-call/call out emergency service to respond to fire protection emergencies and ensure timely resolution of issues.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A minimum of 2+ years' field experience across various industries and a diploma in a mechanical trade would be preferred. Fire service certifications and/or suppression training would be considered an asset.
  • Skills and Competencies: Ability to safely execute high-quality work on-time, professional and customer service-focused mindset, high level of self-motivation, keen attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently, ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, flexibility to address changing situations/priorities, and knowledge of relevant fire codes and standards.
  • Additional Requirements: Completed training in various fire alarm systems (e.g. Siemens, Autocall, Simplex, Edwards, and Notifier) would be an asset. Must possess a valid Driver's License and be able to travel to and work out of remote client sites. Overtime may be necessary; therefore, flexibility in hours of work will be required.
