Medical Laboratory Technician
Permanent Part-time Position
About the Role
- We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Blanche River Health.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures, analyzing results, and providing accurate diagnoses.
- They will also be required to maintain accurate records, follow laboratory protocols, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Additionally, the Medical Laboratory Technician will be expected to work collaboratively with healthcare teams to provide high-quality patient care.
- They will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, adhering to infection control practices, and following laboratory safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests and procedures, including blood draws, urinalyses, and other diagnostic tests.
- Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and provide accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results, patient information, and test procedures.
- Follow laboratory protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide high-quality patient care, including communicating test results and providing recommendations for further testing or treatment.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to infection control practices and laboratory safety protocols.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Laboratory Technician training program or equivalent.
- Registered with the Medical Laboratory Professionals Association of Ontario (MLPAO) as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Preference will be given to Medical Laboratory Technicians with the Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (cMLA) or Technologist in Medical Laboratory Science (TMLPAO) designation.
- Preference will be given to applicants with Medical Laboratory and Phlebotomy experience.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately, under pressure, with minimal supervision, and establish priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team and provide Phlebotomy services at Long Term Care facilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
- Professionalism, courteous approach with patients, staff, and the public.
- Bilingualism in both official languages is considered an asset.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
