Position Overview

The Terrain Park Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Mountain Operations team. This position involves assisting in all facets of Terrain Park management, including the training of new personnel, ensuring that all staff are proficient in the Terrain Parks Resource Guide and company policies, as well as constructing, maintaining, and testing Terrain Park features. The supervisor will ensure that the Terrain Park department aligns with the requirements of other departments and will oversee daily operations under the guidance of the Terrain Park Supervisor.

The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining essential records and documentation, such as daily logs, incident reports, and employee training files.

Expect to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including adverse conditions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the ski industry, with a preference for Terrain Park or Freestyle experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Ability to ski or snowboard across diverse mountain terrains in varying conditions
  • Physically and mentally fit, capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 55 lbs
  • Willingness to work outdoors, sometimes in severe weather
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license or higher

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Terrain Park Supervisor to plan the layout and construction of Terrain Parks
  • Ensure that all features, signage, and fencing are maintained and tested according to best practices and guidelines
  • Coordinate grooming and snowmaking needs with the respective supervisors
  • Assist safety operations in managing Terrain Park-related emergencies and incidents
  • Oversee staff scheduling and payroll to ensure adequate staffing for safe operations
  • Facilitate training and scheduling in accordance with the Terrain Park Training Manual and industry best practices
  • Ensure all Terrain Park staff are competent in their duties and emergency procedures
  • Maintain departmental records, including photographic documentation of Terrain Park features
  • Ensure coordination of Terrain Park activities with other departments

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site supervision of employees
  • Address performance issues promptly in the absence of the Terrain Park Supervisor
  • Work safely and efficiently, identifying any safety concerns
  • Possess a solid understanding of Terrain Park and safety procedures, ensuring compliance
  • Maintain an inventory of Terrain Park tools and materials
  • Ensure consistent maintenance of Terrain Park features
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures for the Terrain Parks
