Job Summary
The Medical Physicist plays a crucial role in the Radiation Treatment Program at Hamilton Health Sciences, providing scientific and technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality cancer treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Specification, acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibration of equipment used in the Radiotherapy Department
- Implementation of QA Programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Planning and implementation of new treatment techniques and/or technologies
- Collaboration with Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists to develop and implement treatment plans
- Conducting ongoing research and providing education for residents, students, and visitors
Qualifications
- PhD in Medical Physics or a related subject from a recognized university
- Demonstrated scientific problem-solving ability
- Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in radiation oncology physics or equivalent
- Certified or eligible for certification in radiation oncology physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload
Working Conditions
The Medical Physicist will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be required to work extended hours, overtime, and evenings/weekends as needed.
