About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced legal counsel to join our team at Ignite Talent Solutions. As an In-House Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to our clients, focusing on compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and provide legal advice on contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  2. Manage external counsel relationships and support the Chief Compliance Officer with all legal and litigation matters.
  3. Maintain a strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including the Bank Act, privacy laws, and FCAC regulations.
  4. Support capital markets, securities, and advisory opportunities, and assist with the development of policies and compliance matters.
  5. Provide training to staff on legal and compliance matters, and work closely with other departments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  6. Represent the Legal Department on special projects, new product proposals, and risk management initiatives, and draft, review, and become familiar with applicable terms of use and drafting changes to such documentation and procedures when required.
  7. Advising on, drafting, and negotiating agreements with business clients, and assessing legal and reputational risk of new initiatives or changes to existing products and services.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require strong professional and academic credentials, including a law degree from an accredited law school and the ability to practice law in Canada. You will also need 2 years of experience practicing law, superior analytical and communication skills in both legal and business settings, and the ability to work independently on multiple files and prioritize them effectively while meeting deadlines.
