Location: Richmond, BC

Pinchin is on the lookout for an Environmental Safety Project Specialist to enhance our Consulting Team.

In this role, you will report directly to the Project Manager and be integral to our operations by evaluating and overseeing various work environments and building infrastructures across the region. Your key responsibility will be to detect hazardous substances such as asbestos, lead, mercury, and PCBs, ensuring that health and safety measures are rigorously followed before and during any intervention or removal of these dangerous materials prior to renovations or demolitions.

Your duties will include performing building evaluations, conducting abatement field inspections, and preparing detailed site review and technical reports. Effective communication with your manager and client stakeholders will be crucial in ensuring that project goals and requirements are fulfilled.

A Day in the Life of an Environmental Safety Project Specialist at Pinchin:

  • Conduct thorough site evaluations, inspections, and testing related to hazardous building materials
  • Travel to various job sites within the region
  • Analyze and interpret sample results in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Draft technical reports detailing your findings and offering recommendations
  • Oversee and coordinate hazardous materials abatement subcontractors
  • Collect and analyze air samples for hazardous materials
  • Utilize and calibrate field sampling instruments and microscopes
  • Collaborate with clients and subcontractors to ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are met
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients

What You Bring to the Pinchin Team:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a keen ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Experience in writing technical reports is an advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours and participate in weekend rotations
  • Readiness to travel for extended periods in remote locations
  • Fieldwork experience is a plus
  • Relevant post-secondary education or diploma is beneficial
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and guidelines is advantageous
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) is beneficial
  • Experience in reading and interpreting floor plans is an asset
  • Experience with environmental monitoring equipment is advantageous
  • A vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance are required for travel
  • Security clearances may be necessary for certain job sites
