Architectural Survey Specialist

Position Overview
The City of New York is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Architectural Survey Specialist. This position involves conducting thorough assessments of the physical state of City-owned structures as part of the Asset Information Management System (AIMS) initiative overseen by the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform condition evaluations of various building elements, including but not limited to, exterior facades, roofs, windows, and interior components such as floors and ceilings.
- Document existing conditions and identify necessary repairs, replacements, and the remaining lifespan of building components.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary survey team comprising an Architect, Electrical Engineer, and Mechanical Engineer.
- Conduct site visits to an average of 2 to 3 buildings daily, with time allocated for report preparation.
- Prepare comprehensive facility assessment reports to assist in budget planning.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess a valid New York State Registration as an Architect and have a minimum of six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, including at least two (2) years in an administrative capacity.
Preferred Skills
Candidates should have a solid understanding of construction techniques, materials, and assemblies, particularly for buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries. Expertise in diagnosing deterioration and failure issues is highly valued. A minimum of five years of relevant field inspection experience is required. This role necessitates physical capability to navigate various building environments, including stairs, rooftops, and confined spaces. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. A valid driver's license is also required.
