Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber - Roving to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you'll be responsible for operating facility systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and routine services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determines piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipes to required shape and size.
  • Interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications to map layout of plumbing system, water supply network, and waste and drainage systems in residential and commercial buildings.
  • Cuts openings in walls or floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Installs, replaces, and repairs valves, pumps, and all other piping system fixtures and equipment.
  • Tests pipes for leaks and other problems.

Requirements

  • College Diploma/Certification required.
  • Experience required as a licensed Plumber.
  • Strong ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution skills.
  • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support lower-level technicians' development.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby, and emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Valid drivers' license.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation - Required

  • Must hold a valid Journeyman level Plumbing license issued by the province in which the work is performed.

Assets

  • Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1.
  • Facilities Technician Certification through an accredited institution.
  • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT).
