About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Drill and Blast Engineer to join our team at Agnico Eagle Mines Limited.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the drill and blast planning and engineering efforts, ensuring that drilling and blasting production objectives are achieved in a cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Short-Term Planning group to develop Blast Masters and Bench Development Plans to meet the objectives of the strategic mine plans and Drill and Blast requirements of the operations;
  • Develop Void Masters and maintain historical underground information to manage the interaction between the underground and open pit interface;
  • Lead the Drill and Blast Engineers and Mine Technicians to provide weekly and monthly drill and blast schedules for the production forecast;
  • Develop Drill and Blast QAQC systems and standards and lead the implementation and reporting of these QAQC activities to ensure drill and blast operations are compliant;
  • Work collaboratively with long and medium-term mine planning engineers providing input to budgets, life-of-mine and strategic plans;
  • Lead Drill and Blast Optimization initiatives to increase mine production efficiencies, maximization of economic return and smart cost reduction;
  • Visit project and operations areas to ascertain designs and plans are properly implemented and manage any changes;
  • Drive change to ensure systems, planning and processes are aligned with internal metrics and deliverables, including the identification of business improvement opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering with eligibility for P.Eng;
  • 5 years of experience in mine planning and drill and blast planning in an open pit mine;
  • Experience with MineSight, Maptek Vulcan is considered an asset;
  • Experience with Fleet Management Systems (Wenco, Surface Manager) and use of reporting and analytical tools;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
What We Offer
  • Hybrid Schedule: 4/3 at our Detour Lake mine, followed by 5/2 working from home or in office;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
