Key Responsibilities- Design and Build Furniture: Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made, and trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints.
- Woodworking and Finishing: Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, and prepare and apply laminated plastics.
- Maintenance and Repair: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, estimate costs and materials, and repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products.
- Area of Specialization: Focus on restoration of antique furniture, cabinets, built-in units, furniture, doors and door frames, millwork, and furniture and cabinet remodeling.
- Education and Experience: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- Work Environment: Fast-paced environment with attention to detail, standing for extended periods, and handling weights up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
- Personal Qualities: Team player with a willingness to travel and adapt to changing work conditions.
- Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
- Support for Youths: Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
- Language of Work: English.
- Hours of Work: 30 to 40 hours per week.
