Job Summary

The Home Support Worker provides expert care and assistance to clients in their homes, promoting their physical, social, and emotional well-being. As a valued member of the Simcoe County team, this role requires a commitment to client safety and quality services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide personal care to clients, adhering to administrative policies and recognized nursing principles.
  2. Participate in the activation process to promote clients' overall well-being.
  3. Observe and report significant changes in clients' physical and emotional conditions, documenting in PCC.
  4. Assist clients with activities of daily living, including laundry, housekeeping, and personal care.
  5. Develop and maintain professional work ethics and effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and families.
  6. Contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures related to Quality Risk Management programs.
  7. Utilize electronic systems effectively and maintain a safe environment.
  8. Take responsibility for own ethical behavior and assist in the orientation of new staff members and students.
  9. Input client care plans and assessments, and complete documentation as required in PCC.
  10. Respond immediately to client emergencies and follow safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Completion of the Personal Support Worker Certification program or currently enrolled.
  • Ability to work with others in an inter-professional care team.
  • Good physical condition to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Effectiveness working with minimal supervision, with proven reliability and trustworthiness.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • First Aid certificate an asset.
  • Proof of annual CPR recertification.
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing.

Working Conditions

May be exposed to illnesses/viruses while working with clients.

Salary Grade Union OPSEU 394
