About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Transport Coordination Specialist to join our dynamic Logistics team.

The Logistics team plays a crucial role in supporting Canadian Blood Services by managing the dispatch of transport drivers and vehicles. In this position, you will facilitate the safe and timely distribution of blood products, equipment, materials, and the transportation of staff and donors.

Formula for Success
  • Utilizing your organizational skills, you will assess, plan, and coordinate vehicle and personnel resources to meet daily operational needs.
  • With your knowledge of safe transportation protocols and keen attention to detail, you will ensure vehicle maintenance adheres to Canadian Blood Services Transportation Rules and Procedures Manual.
  • Employing your excellent communication skills, you will address day-to-day operational challenges, consulting the supervisor/manager for guidance as necessary.
  • Initiate, post, and adjust the Driver's daily work schedule to accommodate shifting workflows within the department, including staff and donor shuttles, mobile transportation, hospital deliveries, and center functions.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with vendors and both internal and external customers.
  • You will complete necessary documentation for departmental activities, compile statistical data, and prepare reports upon request.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for resolving daily center and mobile-related issues; problem-solve and redirect resources as needed.
Desired Education and Skills
  • Completion of secondary school program.
  • Recent experience (within the last 3 years) in a Dispatcher role or related position within a Logistics environment is essential.
  • Recent experience (within the last 3 years) in a customer service setting is required.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain Operations environment would be advantageous.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact, sound judgment, and discretion when interacting with others.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; capable of managing multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Must be willing to obtain a Class 4 MB license and provide a commercial driver's abstract.
