About the Role

Railserve, Canada is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Part Time Rail Operations Specialist. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight railcars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate electric, diesel-electric, or gas-turbine-electric locomotives to transport freight railcars.
  • Pump liquid chemicals, liquid petroleum products, and other liquids from tank cars.
  • Interpret train orders, signals, and rules and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Transport freight railcars and perform timely and correct switching and placement of rail cars.
Requirements
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) preferred but not required.
  • Military experience helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages.
Working Conditions

This incumbent regularly works in an outdoor environment, in various weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
