High School Mathematics Educator Needed - Experience with Canadian Curriculum Required

Are you passionate about mathematics? Do you have a knack for science? Are you enthusiastic about guiding students through the complexities of these subjects?

Oxford Learning Centres Inc. is on the lookout for part-time educator-tutors to join our learning facility. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with students, have a strong affinity for numbers and equations, and are dedicated to fostering skill development in these areas.

Our educator-tutors at Oxford Learning do not need to prepare lesson plans in advance, as all sessions are pre-designed. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training in our unique educational philosophy and methodologies.

Applicants should have a solid foundation in both Mathematics and all Sciences (including biology, chemistry, and physics) and must be adept at teaching students in Grades 9 – 12 across various levels. Familiarity with the Ontario curriculum is essential.

Position Requirements

All educator-tutors at Oxford Learning are expected to work during after-school hours and evenings (4:00pm - 8:00pm), as well as Saturdays (9:00am - 1:00pm). A commitment for the entire academic year is preferred, with the possibility of continuing through the summer. Reliability is crucial, as your students will look forward to working with you.

This position requires in-person attendance. Candidates must be able to commute to the designated location. Relocation assistance is not provided. This is not a remote position.

Vulnerable sector screening is a prerequisite.

We encourage you to apply if you meet the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a relevant discipline
  • Fourth-year university students with significant tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Strong understanding of the current Grades 9-12 math curriculum, particularly in advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some background in teaching or tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mathematical abilities and the capacity to enhance students' comprehension
  • Ability to manage multiple students simultaneously
Responsibilities (Position Details)

As an Interactive Coach, you will work directly with students and be responsible for:

  • Instructing up to 3 students at varying levels simultaneously
  • Delivering lessons both online and in-person
  • Adhering to the Oxford Learning teaching methodologies
  • Completing post-lesson documentation
  • Providing daily updates on student progress
  • Maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor at all times
