Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver primary care services both in-person and through virtual platforms.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including LPNs, mental health professionals, and social workers.
- Engage in shadow billing for both direct and indirect patient care.
- Participate in clinic and provider rounds as scheduled.
- Assist with data collection and entry as required.
- Complete mandatory organizational training (e.g., responding to suspected opioid overdoses, facility orientations).
- Act as a preceptor for family medicine and public health residents, if desired.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
- Possession of appropriate medical liability insurance (e.g., CMPA or equivalent).
- Affiliation with a Primary Care Network (PCN) or willingness to join.
- Preferred specializations include opiate agonist therapy, transgender medicine, and emergency care.
- Experience with vulnerable populations (e.g., homeless, refugees) is advantageous.
- A strong commitment to advocating for and building relationships with seniors.
- Understanding of social determinants of health affecting marginalized communities.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and familiarity with Netcare is essential.
- Current CPR certification is required upon employment.
- Successful completion of a vulnerable sector criminal record check and child welfare intervention check is mandatory.
- Knowledge of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action is beneficial.
- Commitment to working within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and ongoing learning in these areas.
Work Environment:
- Located in Calgary, AB, our facility operates with a focus on senior health.
- Position offers 0.4 FTE (7-hour shifts, 2 days per week), with the possibility of a 0.6 FTE arrangement.
- Standard working hours are Monday to Friday.
- Currently, the ARP rate is competitive, ensuring fair compensation.
- No evening or weekend shifts are required, and there are no on-call duties.
- Appointment lengths are a minimum of 30 minutes, with options for 60-minute sessions as necessary.
- Locum coverage is provided for time off.
- Utilization of Telus' new Collaborative Health Records (CHR) EMR system.
- Administrative support is available for patient management and appointment flow.
- Access to in-house specialists and allied health services is provided.
