Alberta Health Services is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist I to join our dynamic team within a comprehensive healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be part of a robust facility that provides both Acute and Continuing Care services. Our pharmacy department plays a crucial role in delivering pharmaceutical care to a diverse patient population, including those in emergency situations. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative atmosphere where pharmacists can engage in both specialized and general medicine practices.
Position Overview:
As a Pharmacist I, your primary responsibilities will include the safe and efficient preparation and distribution of medications. You will oversee medication therapy management for patients, ensuring their needs are met from initial assessment through ongoing care. Additionally, you will be tasked with identifying, addressing, and resolving any drug-related issues that may arise, as well as supervising compounding and packaging activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Experience in a hospital setting or direct patient care, providing comprehensive medication management services.
- Recent involvement as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- Familiarity with computerized medication order entry, IV admixture programs, and various drug distribution systems, including unit dose and automated dispensing cabinets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacists is advantageous; candidates without APA will be expected to obtain it within a specified timeframe if eligible.
