Job Summary

The Clinical Extern will work collaboratively with a healthcare team under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. This part-time role involves working varied shifts, including weekends and stat holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care and support under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.
  • Participate in patient assessments and provide feedback as requested.
  • Help with activities of daily living, such as lifting, transferring, and ambulating patients.
  • Assist with patient recreation activities, including reading, conversations, and technology assistance.
  • Report changes in patient condition to the registered healthcare professional.
  • Assist with rounding, responding to call bells, and patient requests.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Document patient care provided according to hospital policies.
  • Assist with supply management and stocking.
  • Request assistance when needed and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team and maintain a positive attitude.
Qualifications
  • Students enrolled in approved nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or respiratory therapy programs.
  • Internationally educated nurses who have initiated registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and meet specific requirements.
  • Minimum one year of previous employment with suitable references.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and attend work regularly.
Other Requirements
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and stat holidays.
  • Commitment to ongoing temporary part-time employment throughout the school year.
