About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Tool & Die Maker to join our team at Magna Powertrain. As an Apprentice Tool & Die Maker, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and learn the skills necessary to become a licensed Tool & Die Maker.

Your Responsibilities
  • Assist in the setup and operation of Tool Room equipment, including CNC equipment and Flow Form equipment.
  • Work under the supervision of a licensed Tool & Die Maker to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills.
  • Perform tasks such as making spare tooling for dies and flow forming machines, assisting in preventative maintenance, and sharpening dies and punches.
  • Develop a strong understanding of die setup and operation, as well as safety procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve common goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be currently enrolled in the Ontario Apprenticeship Program or have completed the 2-year Tool & Die Pre-Apprenticeship program.
  • Working knowledge of the English language (both written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of equipment and machines in the department, including various mills, lathes, hand tools, crane, and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineer drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Flexibility in respect to hours of work and ability to work midnight shift and weekend overtime.
  • Ability to lift and carry 60lbs.
