Registered Dietitian

Island Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Dietitian - Eating Disorders to join our team.
In this role, you will provide specialized nutritional counseling and support to individuals struggling with eating disorders. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop personalized meal plans for clients with eating disorders.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
- Educate clients and their families on healthy eating habits, body image, and coping mechanisms.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Stay current on the latest research and best practices in eating disorder treatment.
Qualifications:
- Registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a major in dietetics/nutrition or equivalent.
- Knowledge of eating disorder theory, available programs and services, their interrelationships and their function in delivering care in the community.
- Completion of recognized dietetic internship in an accredited hospital.
- Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC).
- Two (2) years experience in clinical dietetics and including recent related experience in nutritional counseling and eating disorders, working with youth, and in adult education.

- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, good observation and assessment skills.
- Demonstrate tact and empathy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to teach using adult education principles.
- Provide culturally sensitive care and services.
- Promote positive change and independence.
- Coordinate activities and act as liaison among medical and nursing staff, clients/patients and and/or support agencies.
- Organize workload, set priorities and work with minimal supervision.
- Foster good public relations.
- Physically and emotionally carry out the duties of the position.
- Operate related equipment, such as a personal computer and a variety of software applications.
