About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Mammography Technologist to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform Diagnostic Mammography Exams: Conduct diagnostic mammography exams and interventional breast procedures, ensuring quality patient care and adhering to established protocols.
  2. Prepare Patients for Exams: Explain procedures and give directions to patients, ensuring they are prepared for diagnostic mammography examinations.
  3. Operate Imaging Equipment: Operate computerized imaging equipment, including processing and archiving of acquired data, and monitor equipment performance.
  4. Monitor Patient Care: Monitor patient care during procedures and ensure that patients receive high-quality care.
  5. Supervise and Train Staff: Supervise and train staff, including medical residents, technologists, and students, on procedures and equipment usage.
  6. Participate in Quality Improvement: Participate in the department's Continuous Quality Improvement program, using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks.
  7. Maintain Patient Records: Maintain patient and hospital records by entering data into the Radiology and Hospital Information System as required.
  8. Participate in Research and Special Projects: Participate in approved research and special projects in collaboration with Supervisor and other health care professionals.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Successful completion of CAMRT/BCIT Certificate in Breast Imaging or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of mammography protocols, applications, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, physicians, and other health care staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
