Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Software Procurement Manager, you will oversee comprehensive procurement processes within the Technology Sourcing team, concentrating on indirect spending categories that support Cloud, ASP, SAAS, and related consulting agreements. You will identify issues and devise innovative solutions when clients present needs or requests in a vague manner. Additionally, you will formulate and present procurement strategy recommendations as part of advisory services tailored to clients' business requirements and industry insights. You will also lead the development, negotiation, execution, and implementation of moderately to highly complex procurement initiatives, ensuring compliance with CIBC's risk management and regulatory policies.

Your Contributions

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Assist clients in achieving their business objectives by delivering exceptional service and value. Focus on enhancing each client experience and establishing meaningful interactions. Build and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, suppliers, and colleagues, providing trusted advisory support for effective procurement management.
  • Risk Management & Industry Knowledge: Ensure adherence to appropriate governance for all contracts while staying informed about industry innovations and advancements in business practices and technologies.
  • Influencing and Negotiations: Demonstrate strong influencing and negotiation skills, effectively liaising with stakeholders at all levels. Manage contract drafting, negotiations, and approval processes while complying with CIBC's Procurement and Supplier Governance policies.
  • Problem Solving: Actively listen, ask insightful questions, and empathize with clients. Take ownership of client issues and collaborate with others to develop optimal solutions.
  • Manage Multiple Priorities: Employ effective self-management techniques to handle multiple concurrent objectives, projects, or activities, making informed judgments regarding prioritization and time allocation.

Who You Are

  • You possess substantial experience as a software professional, with a minimum of 5-6 years in procurement negotiations with Tier One software suppliers and managing various enterprise agreements.
  • Familiarity with general license grants, warranties, and IP indemnities relevant to enterprise software and services is essential.
  • Proficient in procurement practices, tools, templates, and formal sourcing principles, with the ability to apply them across diverse categories and situations.
  • You share knowledge of software best practices with junior team members.
  • You enhance efficiencies, processes, and systems across Corporate Services to align with CIBC's business objectives.
  • Strong self-planning skills enable you to organize your assignments effectively, with the capacity to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in drafting various software contracts and schedules, with a history of negotiating contractual terms and conditions. You can translate business requirements into contract language and develop strategies into actionable plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong influencing and negotiation abilities, are vital for shaping decision-making processes in complex contract negotiations.
  • Familiarity with supplier audits is advantageous.
  • You analyze supplier and CIBC deal financials related to specific contracts and categories.
  • You lead contract development and implementation efforts in collaboration with Legal and relevant stakeholders.
  • You spearhead vendor negotiations, including business and commercial terms.
  • You can conduct detailed contract gap analyses and effectively represent stakeholder inputs in contracts.
  • Building and maintaining supplier relationships while driving improvements in cost, risk, and quality is a priority.
  • You educate suppliers on CIBC's procurement policies and processes, fostering cooperative relationships.
  • You represent client challenges with suppliers, resolving issues within the contractual framework and providing timely updates to business executives.
  • Participation in quarterly business reviews with internal and external stakeholders is expected.
  • You track cost-saving opportunities within the software portfolio and report findings to finance.
  • Support for additional technology service opportunities, including professional services related to software implementations, is required.
