Women's Support Counsellor

Position Overview:
The Women's Support Counsellor will deliver therapeutic assistance to women (including cis, non-binary, and trans women) who have faced sexual violence, domestic abuse, or childhood trauma.

Role Responsibilities:
Engage with clients to assess their needs and collaboratively establish and pursue counselling objectives, utilizing a range of therapeutic methods.

Facilitate consultations and work in partnership with local organizations that offer services to individuals affected by sexual assault, childhood abuse, domestic violence, and other forms of trauma.

Provide counselling services grounded in a feminist framework.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services discipline or equivalent experience is required.

Demonstrated understanding of women's issues, including the complexities of domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood trauma, and the impact of secondary trauma.

Strong interpersonal and counselling skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Familiarity with group dynamics and facilitation techniques.

Capacity to foster a respectful partnership with clients and their families, empowering them to develop the skills and confidence necessary to navigate their challenges.

Ability to establish boundaries while maintaining a supportive role, ensuring appropriate interventions to meet the needs of clients and their families.
