Department: Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), Interventional Radiology
Reports to: Manager
Grade: E0:06
Hours: Variable hours per week
Salary: Competitive hourly rate. Start rate is non-negotiable.
Status: Temporary Full Time (Approx. 2 years)
Shifts: Variable 24/7; On-Call as required

The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at UHN is one of Canada's largest academic medical imaging departments, conducting over 750,000 exams annually. Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize nursing knowledge, skills, and critical decision-making to provide compassionate and competent care in alignment with UHN's Professional Practice Model for Nursing.
  • Ensure nursing practices adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines as established by the College of Nurses of Ontario and UHN policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through educational activities to meet the evolving needs of the patient population.
  • Conduct reflective practice to assess and enhance nursing knowledge and improve patient care quality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned or requested.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Certification in Cardiac Life Support.
  • ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care nursing experience (e.g., Intensive Care, Emergency, Acute Care/Step-down, Cath lab, Operating Room).
  • Previous experience in Interventional Radiology is preferred.
  • Certification in Bedside PICC insertions is preferred.
  • Completion of a recognized Critical Care certificate.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and insertion techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work effectively within diverse patient care teams.
  • Evidence of ongoing education in nursing.
  • Ability to work while wearing lead apron/vest for extended periods.
  • Capacity to respond to on-call notifications within one hour.
