Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Data Visualization Specialist to enhance our analytical capabilities.
Reporting to the Manager of Medical Affairs Analytics, the Data Visualization Specialist will utilize expertise in data interpretation and design methodologies to perform analyses, create presentations, and craft infographics that effectively communicate insights. The successful candidate will combine analytical prowess with design and narrative skills, ensuring that data is presented to healthcare leaders in a captivating and insightful manner. This role plays a crucial part in supporting Medical Affairs leadership and staff in their communication and engagement efforts, catering to audiences across all organizational levels, including Senior Medical Leaders and the Executive Team of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). This position aligns with VCH's commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough analyses, interpret results, and summarize findings using a data storytelling approach. Transform complex analytical outputs into clear, engaging narratives that resonate with diverse stakeholder groups. Spearhead the creation of PowerPoint presentations, data communication materials, and infographics. Utilize data manipulation and visualization best practices to produce graphs and visuals that enhance data storytelling. Adhere to health and safety protocols, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. Undertake additional related duties as required.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in analytics, business analytics, data visualization, data science, information design, data communications, or a related field. A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in healthcare, analytics, and communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Skills & Competencies
Demonstrated experience in developing presentation decks, infographics, and related materials for large organizations, adhering to branding guidelines. Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor materials for diverse audiences. Creative mindset with a focus on applying best practices in data visualization and design to create visually compelling graphics. Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint. Competence in conducting data analysis using Excel/Tableau (SQL/Python preferred) and manipulating data for visualizations. Ability to interpret and synthesize data from various sources to construct compelling data narratives that inform decision-making. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively. Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards while working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Team-oriented with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, promoting services with sensitivity to diversity and an understanding of equity-deserving groups.
