Job Overview:

The Payroll Operations Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the precise and timely execution of payroll for the organization. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of payroll processes, both routine and exceptional, utilizing SAP software. The selected candidate will also be responsible for completing all necessary tasks associated with the closure of each payroll cycle efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the punctual and precise processing of payroll for employees across Canada and the United States.
  • Generate pre and post-payroll reports for internal auditing to guarantee that all payments are correctly allocated to recipients.
  • Analyze and reconcile earnings and deductions on a cycle-by-cycle basis to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Review payroll outputs to confirm the reasonableness of gross to net compensation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries from the Employee Services team.
  • Verify the accuracy of financial posting entries and ensure timely completion of all postings.
  • Regularly validate banking transactions to detect rejections and collaborate with Employee Services to reissue payments as necessary.
  • Coordinate with financial institutions regarding payroll-related transactions.
  • Oversee the daily CMA interface, correcting table entries and reprocessing to guarantee accurate wage payments to Running Trade Employees (RTEs).
  • Process and reconcile all third-party payments, including but not limited to tax payments, union dues, and garnishments.
  • Participate in year-end payroll activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • PCP designation or progress towards certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a payroll department.
  • Familiarity with SAP Payroll is advantageous.
  • Experience with US Payroll is a plus.
  • Ability to adhere to strict processing timelines and deadlines.
  • Proven capability to work collaboratively across various functions.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Awareness of situations requiring high visibility and consistent communication.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours to meet processing deadlines.
  • Access to sensitive personnel information necessitates a high degree of confidentiality.
