About the Role:

Tangerine is seeking a highly skilled Middleware Manager to lead our Infrastructure Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Middleware Systems, as well as implementing and supporting UNIX systems, servers, and related components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Middleware & UNIX Specialists in operating and maintaining Middleware Systems for Tangerine Bank.
  • Implement, tune, and support UNIX systems, servers, and related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of supported business applications.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure Middleware and UNIX system provisioning and maintenance are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and recommend regular maintenance schedules for UNIX Operating Systems and related hardware.
  • Accountable for Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP)/Business Continuity Planning (BCP) initiatives and test coordination for all managed systems.
  • Manage problem and incident management and resolution of all managed systems.
  • Ensure all systems under administration are compliant with policies, standards, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, and best-practices for maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Provide efficient, high-quality technical support services to ensure timely response to queries, resolution of problems, and reporting/escalation of issues related to the systems.
  • Monitor, test, and tune system performance; preserve and provide system log files, as needed.
  • Create and manage production service level agreements and objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop teams, and conduct regular performance assessments.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to convey/present technical information and ideas in user-friendly language to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • At least 7+ years of hands-on technical working experience in various areas of enterprise server support, maintenance, and administration.
  • At least 3+ years of technical leadership experience with demonstrated success in implementing continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.
  • At least 10+ years of hands-on technical working experience in providing subject matter expertise with IBM Power Servers, and in particular, with POWER9.
  • At least 10+ years of hands-on technical working experience with AIX systems administration.
  • Demonstrated technical working experience in administering and managing Middleware (e.g., IBM Websphere and/or IBM MQ) systems.
  • Demonstrated technical working experience with supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Solid troubleshooting and step-oriented problem-solving abilities, both proactive and reactive.
  • Logical thinker with an ability to prioritize and act on critical processing problems.
  • Strategic planning mindset to proactively prepare for future technology trends.
  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or in a related technology-based stream.
