Project Engineering Technologist

The Project Engineering Technologist plays a crucial role in the development of Quarterhill Intelligent Transportation System Solutions. This position requires a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to support the project team in the implementation, delivery, and commissioning of these systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop project technical designs incorporating systems comprised of electrical/electronic/mechanical components, sensors, software, firmware, and communications to meet customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Produce project documentation, including system definitions, site layout, and construction drawings, power wiring, site termination drawings, project bills of materials, and equipment assembly packages for commercial vehicle screening systems, weigh-in-motion systems, tolling solutions, and other ITS systems.
  • Support the CAD development of working plans, drawings, and complete layouts of electrical, civil, and mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Provide support for and coordination with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Product Development, and Systems Engineering from component selection and procurement through equipment assembly and system testing.
  • Program and configure equipment, perform factory testing, and field testing, as well as support the installation, calibration, integration, testing, training, and commissioning of project and R&D activities.
  • Support Project Managers in meeting project schedules for engineering work and material budgets.
  • Assist with reviews of customer project specifications.
Requirements:
  • Engineering Technology diploma or certificate, such as Electronic Systems Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with Linux, networking, programming, PLCs, sensors, and communication equipment is an asset.
  • Work experience in a multi-disciplinary team environment is preferred.
  • Experience with construction, Lean, and ISO 9001 quality systems is beneficial.
  • Competency with standard CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Inventor.
  • Experience with MS Operating System and MS Office 365 is required.
