Role Overview

As a Teacher-Tutor, you will benefit from a structured curriculum, as all lessons are pre-designed. Comprehensive training will be provided in our unique educational philosophy and methodologies.

Position Requirements

Teacher-Tutors are expected to work during after-school hours, including evenings and some weekends. A commitment through the academic year is preferred, with opportunities to continue into the summer. Reliability and a passion for teaching are essential.

This position requires in-person attendance at our learning centre. Please note that relocation assistance is not available.

Mandatory screening for vulnerable sectors is required.

We encourage applications from candidates who meet the following criteria:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Fourth-year university students with substantial tutoring experience may be considered
  • Teaching certification is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of the Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly in areas such as Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in teaching or tutoring math and science at the Grade 9 to 12 level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong mathematical abilities and the capacity to support students' comprehension
  • Ability to manage multiple students simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will engage directly with students as an Interactive Coach, with responsibilities including:

  • Instructing up to three students at varying levels
  • Adhering to Oxford Learning's methodologies
  • Documenting post-lesson notes
  • Providing daily updates on student progress
  • Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor at all times.

Job Type: Part-time

Compensation: $17 - $19 per hour

Schedule:

  • Evenings
  • Monday to Friday
  • Saturday availability preferred
