Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a SHOP TECHNICIAN in our Sudbury branch.

SUMMARY

Levitt-Safety is currently recruiting a Shop Technician to perform Fire Services, including inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers and Fire and Life safety equipment for our customer base in Sudbury and Northwestern Ontario. The responsibilities for this position will be split approximately 80% performing inside shop technician duties, 15% assisting in mobile service work at customer sites, and 5% performing other duties as needed.

We are willing to train the right candidate who is eager to grow and pursue a career in fire and life protection services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Train to perform hydro-testing of low and high-pressure extinguishers and cylinders as required.
- Fill and repair extinguishers and cylinders as needed.
- Maintain shop equipment and coordinate repairs with the Service Supervisor.
- Ensure safe use of all shop tools and equipment, including company service vehicles.
- Complete and submit paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in mandatory safety training and industry certifications.
- Provide warranty repair and service as necessary.
- Assist outside technicians in the field as required.
- Perform fit testing services both in-house and at customer sites as needed.
- Pickup and deliver service work and completed jobs as required.
- Work under the guidance of the Ontario Service Manager, Sudbury Service Supervisor, and Service Coordinator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Previous experience in a shop environment is an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are ideal.
- Experience communicating with customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Safety Requirements

This is a physically demanding and safety-sensitive role involving various equipment and work environments. Core requirements include:

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, including using ladders and walkways on large equipment.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal background checks.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required, subject to accommodation requests.
