Our Edmonton Airport location is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to support our diverse operations. This is a full-time position.
Description:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic, Truck & Transport reports to the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Manager and works to diagnose and repair maintenance problems. The Heavy Duty Mechanic inspects and ensures maintenance actions are completed while solving repair problems.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide prompt response to equipment service requests.
2. GSE Equipment, De-Icing Truck, Fuel Truck and Fleet Vehicle Maintenance (Monthly/PMs/Breakdown Repairs/Periodic Inspections/Preventative Maintenance).
3. Update records and conduct road tests on vehicles after maintenance.
4. Diagnose potential vehicle malfunctions for the purpose of determining needed vehicle repairs and/or replacements.
5. Obtain quotations for various jobs related to EFC Fleets.
6. Coordinate with customer and discuss repairs on diagnosed malfunctions.
7. Read and interpret diagnostic trouble codes, manuals, drawings and specifications.
8. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, sketches and rough drawings.
9. Ensure proper safety precautions are observed and respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
10. Inventory control of parts, tools and supplies.
11. Coordinate/complete equipment repairs.
12. Coordinate with Operations Manager/Managing Director for PO issuance.
13. Coordinate with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
14. Maintain tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
15. Work with outside vendors and contractors as required.
16. Work within the local station maintenance budget.
17. Flexible to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
18. Able to work extended hours on short notice and during non-routine operations.
19. Some travel may be required within Alberta and British Columbia.
20. Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
21. Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service.
22. Comply with and participate in the Company's Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
23. Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Interprovincial Red Seal Certification in Heavy Duty Mechanics – Truck & Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanic – Off Road.
2. Minimum Two years of experience in general Heavy Duty Truck & Transport maintenance preferred.
3. Aviation experience would be considered an asset.
4. Adequate set of mechanical tools required.
5. Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean abstract is required as a condition of employment.
6. Valid Class 3 driver's license is an asset.
7. Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) is required.
8. Able to lift up to 32 kg in confined spaces.
9. Able to lift heavy objects overhead for extended periods of time.
10. Able to stand, lift, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time.
11. Willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment.
12. Able to prioritize in a quickly changing environment and manage shifting priorities and demands.
13. Teamwork skills and ability to maintain positive interactions with others.
14. Good verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills.
15. Dedicated to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
16. Professional, punctual, meticulous and diligent.
17. Able to work collaboratively as a productive member of the AGFT Team.
