Our client is looking for a Lumber & Building Materials Buyer / Expeditor to join our growing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory for lumber and related building materials. You'll also play a key role in ensuring timely delivery of materials by coordinating with suppliers, tracking orders, and resolving any issues that arise during the procurement and delivery process.

Key Responsibilities:

- Source and purchase lumber and a variety of building materials to meet project and inventory demands.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers to maintain cost-effectiveness and inventory levels.
- Track and expedite orders, ensuring on-time delivery and resolving delays or supply issues.
- Monitor stock levels and forecast needs based on current and upcoming projects.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and quality control.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, operations, project managers) to understand material needs and timelines.
- Verify purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documentation for accuracy.
- Identify alternative suppliers or materials when issues arise to avoid disruptions.
- Stay current on market trends, pricing, and product availability within the lumber and building materials industry.

Qualifications:

- 3–5+ years of experience in procurement, buying, or expediting in the lumber or building materials industry.
- Strong knowledge of lumber grades, sizes, species, and general building materials.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in purchasing and inventory software (e.g., Epicor, Sage, or similar).
- Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Valid driver's license (if occasional supplier/site visits are required).
