Position Summary: Day Camp Aquatic Team Leads are responsible for the safety and supervision of the aquatic programs, including recreational swimming and swimming lessons. The Team Leader will provide direct leadership to the lifeguards and swim instructors, assist with program planning, and report on camper swimming progress. In addition to Team Lead responsibilities, this person will also perform lifeguarding tasks, conduct safety checks, and manage program equipment and environment.

In this role, you will:

- Work with the Aquatic Coordinator to ensure the pool is properly set up with all paperwork and safety equipment required to meet YMCA of Greater Toronto regulations as well as provincial standards
- Provide leadership and coaching to swimming instructors, ensuring all indicators are being met for swimming lessons and assisting instructors during classes
- Complete a safety check of lifesaving equipment prior to each shift
- Ensure adherence to all safety and lifeguarding procedures, responding to emergencies as trained by the Lifesaving Society and YMCA
- Attend all staff trainings and meetings, arriving on time and actively participating
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety, and maintenance of camp sites
- Act as a positive role model for campers and staff by embodying YMCA values and standards

You bring:

- Minimum age 18 years old by June 1st
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in an aquatic environment
- Current Certifications: National Lifeguard (NL) Award, Standard First Aid & CPR level "C"
- Current YMCA or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification
- Pool Operator certification (an asset)
- Previous experience lifeguarding and instructing swim lessons (an asset)
- Experience working with children (preferred)
- Experience working as a supervisor or Team Lead (preferred)
- YMCA Day Camp experience (an asset)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform light to medium physical effort
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
