Are you a Clinical Psychologist, a specialistNurse/Social Worker or other professional who has experience of assessing anddiagnosing children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and/orAutism. Do you have experience of supporting children and their families postdiagnosis. We are a lovely team who are based in Grimsby who provideassessments for children and young people in North East Lincolnshire, between 0- 18 years. We have developed a new model which has received much recognitionof good practice and has been shortlisted for a national award. We workcollaboratively with many other services and the /carers forum. We are aninnovative, supportive team who place great importance on staff wellbeing and CPD.

Main duties of the job
Candidate will use their experience, skills and knowledge to lead onneurodevelopmental assessments, which includes AD/HD and ASD with children andyoung people, and their families/carers. They will have experience of working autonomouslyand as part of a team within their professional guidelines as well as liaisingclosely with other professionals, which includes, parents, education, socialcare, voluntary and other health professionals.
Thecandidate will provide specialist neurodevelopmental advice, guidance andconsultation to other professionals contributing directly to the child/youngpersons formulation, diagnosis and treatment. The candidate will haveexperience of supervising other staff including staff from differentdisciplines, they will contribute to service development and serviceevaluation.

Job responsibilities
MAINDUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To usetheir skills and knowledge to lead on, and support, all aspects ofneurodevelopmental assessments, which includes AD/HD and ASD with children andyoung people, and their families/carers.
2.To workautonomously within their professional guidelines as well as liaising closelywith other professionals who work with children and young people, their carersand their families.
3.To workindependently, as part of a team, and across teams, in partnership withparents, education, social care, voluntary and other health professionals toprovide integrated care for clients, their families, carers and educators.
4.To exercisefull responsibility and autonomy for the assessment, support and discharge of acase load of service users, and their carers and families.
5.To providespecialist neurodevelopmental advice, guidance and consultation to otherprofessionals contributing directly to the child/young persons formulation,diagnosis and treatment plan.
6. Offerregular clinical supervision to less experienced staff or if a clinicalpsychologist undergo the supervisory training.
7.Offerclinical leadership in respect of Neurodevelopmental aspects of the service,coordination and management, as agreed by the lead of the speciality.
8.To meetappropriate standards of practice in the quality and timeliness of the serviceprovided. The standards of practice will include meeting the standards definedby their registration body and NAVIGO health and social care code of conduct.
9.To developand provide a range of specialist neurodevelopmental assessments to vulnerablechildren and young people including Looked After Children; children and youngpeople who have mild to severe Learning Disabilities; children who are at riskof contact with, or who have contact with, the Youth Justice Service.
10.To lead orbe part of the team to assess and diagnose ASD or AD/HD, suggest robustrecommendations which have been identified during the assessment based ontheoretical knowledge and evidence-based guidance.
11. Toundertake risk assessment and risk management for individual children/youngpeople and to provide general advice to other professionals onneurodevelopmental aspects of risk assessment and management.
12. Tocommunicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning theassessment, formulation and treatment plans, and to monitor and evaluateprogress during the course of both uni-and multi-disciplinary care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Honours degree graded at a 2:1 or above in childrens nursing, mental health nursing, psychology or other relevant profession such as speech and language, social workers.
- Registered member of NMC, HCPC or other professional body.
- Additional specialist training related to working with children, young people and their families and carers in managing neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Clinical supervision training or be undergoing supervisors training.
- Trained in assessment tools relevant to this post (e.g. ADOS, WISC, ACE, Connors, SNAP).
- Other related academic qualifications to Masters or Doctorate level.
Knowledge
- knowledge of and experience of neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Specialist knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to client group and settings, and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits underpinned by evidence based practice.
- knowledge of and experience of child protection and safeguarding issues and procedures.
- knowledge for interpretative assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working with key professionals in health, education, and social services. Experience of clinical supervision and the ability to engage others in reflective practice.
- A working knowledge of relevant procedures and legal frameworks and to demonstrate the ability to apply this knowledge to clinical practice, including: Safeguarding Children, Code of Practice, Information Governance and other legal frameworks.
- Knowledge of methods of involving service users in improving client care.
Experience
- Experience of working with children and families where there are developmental or neurodevelopmental concerns.
- Experience of working with children and young people from pre-school age to school leaving age.
- Experience of working with children who have experienced abuse.
- Experience of using a range of specialist psychology assessment skills which include:
- Use of psychometric assessments attention/ intelligence, memory, reading, social functioning; executive functioning.
- Use of behavioural assessments.
- Use of observational methods of assessment.
- Assessment by interviewing.
- Assessment by analysis of archive material.
- Experience of developing and providing specialist Neurodevelopmental interventions and intervention packages for children, young people, and their carers and families.
- Experience of providing specialist Neurodevelopmental advice to parents and/or carers and staff concerning the care and/or therapeutic provision for children and young people.
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency settings.
- Experience of working in the community.
- Experience of working with children and young people with a range of disabilities and special needs from mild to extensive difficulties including learning difficulties; physical difficulties; chronic and acute health problems.
- Experience of working with autistic children and young people.
- Experience of providing supervision to other professionals who work with children and young people and their carers and families.
- Experience of providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Experience of developing and delivering teaching/training to professionals and parents/carers
- Experience of audit or service evaluation
- Experience of conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental assessments in children and young people.
- Experience/knowledge of related conditions and life experiences e.g. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Dyspraxia, developmental trauma, attachment.
- Experience of working closely with local agencies (e.g. Paediatrics, Education, Local Authority).
- Experience of being involved in service development and contributing to policy planning.
