The NROS supports the management and delivery of compliance and enforcement activities in a manner that is timely, appropriate and consistent with the mandate of the Ministry. The Role The Indigenous Relations Restorative Justice Officer plays a critical leadership role in advancing reconciliation, fostering government-to-government relationships, and supporting restorative justice initiatives within the Natural Resource Officer Service (NROS). This position is responsible for building trust-based partnerships with Indigenous communities, ensuring Indigenous interests are integrated into enforcement practices, and leading collaborative approaches to conflict resolution and compliance. Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline. Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to: forestry, resource management, biology, environmental science, communications, agrology, planning, archaeology, and anthropology; OR, An equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training may also be considered. Experience managing conflict involving multiple individuals with diverse perspectives and interests. Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following: Those who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit); Recent (within 5 years) experience leading consultations and/or participating in negotiations with First Nations; Recent (within 5 years) operational experience in natural resource management; Experience in natural resource law enforcement; Experience working with Indigenous peoples and/or communities in Canada and participating in consultation with First Nations. About this Position: This position can be located in one of the Ministry’s North Area Offices: Dawson Creek, Prince George, Smithers or Terrace. This position has full time on-site requirements. Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment. Depending on a successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
