Good Design Isn’t The Goal. Great Results Are: You know how to build brands people remember, lead creative teams people want to be part of, and turn big marketing ideas into work that gets noticed and gets results.
You’ve got the taste to know when something is great. The experience to explain why. And the confidence to push the work further when it isn’t there yet. Most importantly, you understand this:
Great design isn’t just decoration. It’s salesmanship in pixels.
If you’re excited by the idea of setting the creative standard across a fast-growing health and wellness brand, you might just be the Creative Director we’re looking for.
This job will give you ALL the feels:
At AlgaeCal, we’re driven by a single idea. To end the fear of bone loss. In the United States, an estimated 54 million people have low bone density.
The good news? AlgaeCal has the world’s only clinically-backed natural solution to this problem. We give hope to everyone worried about bone loss. If that excites you, you’ll find no better place to continue your career than at AlgaeCal.
Here’s what you’ll be up to in this busy role:
- Setting the visual standard for AlgaeCal. You’ll define what great looks like, make sure the team understands it, and keep every campaign, launch, website, ad, and brand asset moving in the same direction.
- Leading and developing a team of designers and creative specialists. You’ll review work, give clear direction, challenge weak ideas, and help strong creatives become even better.
- Protecting the brand without letting it go stale. You’ll make sure the work feels unmistakably AlgaeCal while still pushing the team to find fresher, smarter ways to bring ideas to life.
- Making the creative process better. If briefs are unclear, feedback is messy, or projects are getting stuck in revision hell, you’ll fix the system instead of just working around it.
- Using performance data to improve the work. You’ll look at what gets attention, what converts, and what falls flat, then use those lessons to guide the team’s next round of advert creatives.
- Building the team for where the business is going next. That means identifying skill gaps, planning future hires, developing career paths, and making sure the right people are working on the right things.
- Helping the team use AI intelligently. You’ll show designers where AI can speed up ideation, production, and workflows, without letting it replace taste, originality, or creative judgment.
- Keeping the team creatively sharp. You’ll stay on top of new design trends, tools, formats, and technology, then bring back the ideas that can genuinely make the work better. This job might be for you if you’ve got…
- 10+ years in design or creative, with 7+ years leading creative teams. You’ve been around long enough to know the difference between a good idea, a pretty idea, and an idea that actually moves a business.
- A proven track record leading multidisciplinary creative teams. Designers, editors, media producers, copywriters... you know how to get different creative brains working toward one clear vision.
- The ability to set creative direction, not just critique creative. You can take a business goal, customer insight, or product launch and turn it into a clear creative strategy the whole team can execute against.
- Strong commercial instincts. You understand audiences, positioning, funnels, paid media, conversion, and e-commerce. You care about great work, but you also care whether that work actually performed.
- Experience leading big, complicated creative initiatives. Product launches, integrated campaigns, brand evolutions, new markets... you’ve been the person keeping the idea strong while dozens of moving parts threaten to pull it apart.
- The confidence to influence senior stakeholders. You can walk into a room with leadership, present a bold idea, explain the thinking behind it, answer tough questions, and get people aligned.
- Experience building great creative teams. You know how to hire well, spot skill gaps, develop people, plan resources, and build a team that gets stronger as the business grows.
- A knack for fixing broken creative processes. Slow approvals, muddy briefs, revision hell, unclear ownership... you don’t just complain about these things. You fix them.
- A smart approach to AI and emerging technology. You know how to use new tools to help creative teams think faster, explore further, and produce more efficiently without sacrificing taste or originality. Now, time to be honest: is this really you? If you’re nodding your head and feeling that flutter of excitement, then we can’t wait to meet you. Qualities That Make You An Ideal Teammate At AlgaeCal we’re going to insist that you have these 3 qualities:
- You’re humble, you put the team and others’ needs ahead of your own
- You’re hungry to learn more
- You’re people smart, in the sense that you’re a great teammate The truth is, if you don’t have these qualities you won’t last long at A
