Model silicon photonic and analog circuits at Lightmatter in Mountain View, using Python, optical solvers, and Cadence in a hybrid workplace.
As a Photonics Circuit Design Engineer, you will connect device physics with circuit-level behavior for Guide™ laser products and Passage™ optical links. You will create models covering active and passive photonic elements, analog interfaces, fabrication variation, dispersion, and thermal effects. Your work will support accurate end-to-end product simulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct compact and behavioral models for silicon photonic elements
- Incorporate process variation, dispersion, thermal, and nonlinear properties
- Calibrate parameters using optical solvers and silicon data
- Deliver Guide laser and Passage interconnect sub-circuit simulations
- Validate models against empirical silicon measurements
Requirements:
- Ph.
D. plus two years industry experience, or M.
S. plus five
- Deep silicon photonic physics and analog circuit fundamentals
- Experience with Lumerical, RSoft, Tidy3D, Cadence Virtuoso, and Spectre
- Strong Python skills for modeling and engineering codebases
- Analytical, methodical, and clear technical communication abilities Apply photonic modeling, analog circuit knowledge, Python, and silicon correlation to Lightmatter’s advanced optical platforms.
