We are seeking a Manufacturing Lead to join our team on‑site in Waterloo, Canada. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the manufacturability, scalability, and reliability of complex systems that integrate electronics (FPGA & Analog/RF), optoelectronics (lasers, photodetectors), and optical components (fiber optics). This role requires hands‑on experience with mid‑volume (1,000s) manufacturing and collaboration with cross‑functional teams consisting of R&D scientists and engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
What you'll do
- Lead Design‑for‑Manufacturability (DFM) efforts for enterprise‑class products.
- Work closely with R&D and production teams to optimize electronics, optoelectronics, and optical systems for manufacturing.
- Develop and implement cost‑reduction and reliability improvement strategies.
- Manage relationships with OEMs, ODMs, and manufacturing partners to streamline production.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (Mil-Std-Class desirable).
- Collaborate on supply chain management to optimize component sourcing and logistics.
- Work with R&D and production teams to maintain quality control.
What you'll need to get the job done
- B.S. in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
- Minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
- Direct experience with mid‑volume (1,000s) manufacturing.
- Proven expertise in Design‑for‑Manufacturability for complex systems integrating electronics, optoelectronics, and optics.
- Ability to lead a small team and constructively work with R&D lead.

- Proficient in MIL-STD-810 standards compliance and testing.
- Proven track record of implementing cost‑reduction strategies in manufacturing.
- Extensive experience collaborating with manufacturing partners (OEM, ODM), and managing supply chains.
